By road
Kingston to Toronto Pet Transport
We drive your dog or cat from Kingston to Toronto, door to door. About 2.5 to 3 hours on the road, on a private trip with no other pickups on the way. Pets only: you travel separately.

Bringing your pet to Toronto
Driving is often the easiest way to move a pet between Toronto and Kingston. There is no airport cargo office, no airline crate rules and no flight to book. We pick up your pet at the door and drive straight to the new home.
It is a private trip, with no other pickups on the way. We stop for water on the way, keep the vehicle at a comfortable temperature and send you updates until your pet arrives.
You can travel on the same day or on a different day. Many owners send their pet once the new home is set up, or after the movers have left.

Why drive instead of fly?
- No airline rules. No crate size limits, no holiday or winter embargo dates, and no airline breed limits for snub-nosed breeds.
- Door to door the same day. No cargo office drop-off and no waiting at the airport after landing.
- Calmer for many pets. One vehicle, one driver, and no loading onto a plane.

Leaving Kingston with your pet
Weather and the best time to move
Kingston has cooler summers and colder winters than most of southern Ontario. Breezes off Lake Ontario make it one of the windiest cities in Canada, especially near the water. Humid summer days can still bring a high humidex.
June and September are the easiest months, with mild, settled weather; January and February are hardest because of cold, wind and snow.
The drive between Kingston and Toronto
We follow Highway 401, about 260 km and roughly 2.5 to 3 hours, with a stop for your pet if needed. The 401 through Toronto is very busy, so we plan the trip around rush hour.
Pickup in Kingston
Our driver collects your pet at your door in Kingston or nearby, including Sydenham (downtown), Williamsville, Portsmouth, Kingscourt, Pittsburgh (east end), Collins Bay, Barriefield and Cataraqui.
Before you leave Kingston
If your pet has a licence in Kingston, let the licensing office know you are moving, and update the address on your pet's microchip record.
Ask your vet in Kingston for a copy of your pet's records to bring to a new vet in Toronto.
One last walk? The paved K&P Trail starts at Confederation Park, and the 8 km Downtown Waterfront Pathway follows the lake; keep dogs on a leash.
Dates to plan around in Kingston
- July 1: Canada Day fireworks over Lake Ontario from Confederation Park at 10 p.m. Downtown is busy all day, and the fireworks can scare pets.
- July and August: Summer heat warnings. The City bylaw says pets cannot be left outside during a heat warning unless they have proper shelter.
- December 31: New Year's Eve with fireworks at Confederation Park and Springer Market Square. Loud bangs downtown at night can frighten pets.
- January and February: Cold, windy winter weather and cold warnings. Pets need shelter during cold warnings, and wind off the lake makes it feel colder.
Delivery areas in Toronto
We deliver anywhere in Toronto, including Downtown, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, East York, and across the GTA: Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill. We also cover Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Caledon, King, Aurora, Newmarket, Whitchurch-Stouffville and nearby towns.

Settling in Toronto
- Toronto summers are hot and humid and winters bring snow and road salt. Wipe paws after winter walks.
- The City of Toronto requires a licence for dogs and cats. Mississauga, Brampton and the other GTA cities have their own rules.
- Renting in Ontario: a lease cannot ban pets, and landlords cannot charge a pet deposit. A landlord can still apply to evict if a pet causes real problems, or if condo rules ban pets.
- Book a visit with a new vet in the first few weeks and bring your pet's records.
